Amsterdam has one thousand nine hundred and twenty seven bridges in total. Here you see seven identical bridges in a row, which can only be seen from the water. It is one of the most spectacular views in Amsterdam.
The story behind it
Where the Reguliersgracht meets the Herengracht, you can see seven bridges lined up one behind the other. At night, when all the arches are lit, it is one of the most photographed views in Amsterdam.
The Reguliersgracht almost disappeared: in 1901 there were plans to fill it in for a tramline. Fortunately protests saved the canal, and with it this magical view.

This is stop 16 of 23 on the Friendship route. Before this you passed Waldorf Astoria Hotel, and the boat continues towards Amstel Church. Your skipper will point it out as you pass — keep your camera ready, because from the water you see details that are easily missed from the street.
